Policies at UIBS

Anti Ragging Policy

The Anti-Ragging Committee at United International Business School is committed to ensuring a safe and respectful campus environment by preventing and eliminating all forms of ragging. It aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ragging, offer a secure and confidential reporting system for incidents, and enforce strict compliance with institutional and legal anti-ragging frameworks.

OFFENCES

  1. Physical Abuse: Inflicting physical harm, assault, or forcing students to performphysical tasks.

  2. Verbal and Psychological Abuse: Bullying, intimidation, abusive language, orcreating an environment of fear.

  3. Sexual Harassment: Any inappropriate behaviour, gestures, or comments of a sexual nature.

  4. Financial Extortion: Demanding money or forcing someone to bear unnecessary expenses.

  5. Forcing Prohibited Activities: Coercing a student to perform actions against theirwill or into activities that violate norms or ethics.

  6. Disruption of Academic Activities: Causing disturbances that affect the academicprogress of others.

  7. Defamation: Engaging in acts that tarnish the reputation of a student throughderogatory comments or false accusations.

LEGAL FRAMEWORK

  1. UGC Regulations, 2009: The University Grants Commission mandates all

  2. institutions to follow anti-ragging regulations and take stringent action against offenders.

  3. Indian Penal Code (IPC): Depending on the nature of the offense, sections related to assault, criminal intimidation, and wrongful restraint or confinement may apply.

  4. Supreme Court Rulings: In 2001, the Supreme Court of India deemed ragging a

    punishable offense and directed institutions to enforce anti-ragging measures rigorously.all

PENALTIES

  1. Suspension or Expulsion from the Institution: Immediate suspension from classes

  2. Withholding of Benefits: Withholding scholarships, fellowships, and other academic benefits. 

  3. Debarment from Examinations: Prohibition from appearing in exams, impacting academic progression.

  4. Fines: Monetary penalties ranging from INR 25,000 to INR 1,00,000 depending on the gravity of the incident.

  5.  Police Complaint and Legal Action: Filing of a First Information Report (FIR) for severe cases, resulting in criminal proceedings and, if convicted, imprisonment up to
    three years under the Indian Penal Code.

  6. Community Service and Counseling: Requirement to engage in community servicenor attend counseling sessions.

  7. Public Apology or Reparation: Written or public apology to the victim or additional measures to make amends.

REPORTING & SUPPORT

All students and parents are required to sign a consent form affirming their commitment to maintaining a ragging-free campus. The Anti-Ragging Cell provides a confidential platform for students to report incidents, which are handled promptly and with sensitivity.

Anti Sexual Harassment Committee

The Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell at United International Business School is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus by preventing and addressing all forms of sexual harassment. It empowers students, faculty, and staff to recognize and report incidents, ensures a confidential and supportive complaint resolution process, and promotes awareness through regular training and sensitization programs.

OFFENCES

  1. Unwanted Physical Contact or Advances: Any unsolicited physical touch or suggestive gestures.

  2. Verbal Harassment: Making offensive remarks, jokes, or comments with sexual implications.

  3. Visual Harassment: Displaying or sharing inappropriate images, materials, or messages.

  4. Coercive Behavior or Requests for Favors: Pressuring someone for favors or activities against their will.​

  5. Creating a Hostile Environment: Engaging in actions that result in an intimidating, uncomfortable, or offensive setting for others.

LEGAL FRAMEWORK

  • Legal Action and FIR Filing: For serious cases, an FIR may be filed, resulting in criminal proceedings under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013.

PENALTIES

  1. Warning or Written Apology: For minor incidents, a formal warning or written apology may be required.

  2. Suspension or Expulsion: Immediate suspension or expulsion may be enforced in severe cases.

  3. Restriction of Access: Limiting access to campus facilities, events, or specific areas.

  4. Withholding of Benefits: Removal of scholarships, fellowships, and other academic benefits.

  5. Legal Action and FIR Filing: For serious cases, an FIR may be filed, resulting in criminal proceedings under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013.

  6. Counseling and Rehabilitation: Counseling sessions for both the victim and offender, with corrective measures as deemed necessary.

REPORTING & SUPPORT

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to report any harassment incident through a confidential and structured process managed by the Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell. With a commitment to fairness and confidentiality, the cell ensures that complaints are addressed promptly, creating a supportive environment for everyone involved.

The Student Grievance Handling Committee at United International Business School is dedicated to creating a responsive and supportive campus by offering a confidential and dependable platform for students to voice their concerns. It ensures fair and timely resolution of issues related to academics, facilities, and student services, encourages transparent communication with the administration, and strives to enhance campus life through continuous feedback and improvement.

Acts Under the Purview of Grievances

  1. Academic issues, including grading disputes, faculty behavior, or curriculum
    concerns.

  2. Campus facilities, such as housing, dining, or infrastructure issues.

  3. Administrative services, including delays or issues with documentation.

  4.  Any aspect affecting a student’s welfare or experience on campus.
