VISA & FRRO
Guidelines
Visa Requirements
All foreign nationals (except from Nepal and Bhutan) must hold a valid passport and Indian Student Visa to study in India.
The Student Visa must be endorsed to UIBS (or the respective university) at the time of application.
Visas must be obtained prior to arriving in India through the Indian Embassy/High Commission in your country. Mention the university name while applying.
Change of university after arrival is not permitted. A new visa from your home country would be required in such cases.
The Student Visa is only for full-time education; it cannot be used for employment or online/distance education.
After arrival, students must verify their visa with the university and submit a copy.
Students are responsible for maintaining a valid visa throughout the program duration. Apply for an extension if the visa expires before course completion.
Apply well in advance, as visa processing may take 3–8 weeks.
Late arrivals due to visa delays are not grounds for attendance or academic concessions.
If a student withdraws or is expelled, they must leave India immediately and submit an affidavit to that effect.
Failure to maintain a valid visa may result in suspension from classes or university housing. Any consequences or expenses will be the student's responsibility.
FRRO Registration

Within 24 hours to 14 days of arrival (depending on your country of origin), students must
register with the FRRO in Bangalore.
Students must submit a copy of the FRRO certificate to the university within the required
time frame
All FRRO/visa extension/immigration fees are to be borne by the student.
Notify the FRRO of temporary or permanent departures from India.
Re-registration is not needed for repeat visits on the same visa, but is required if a new
visa or a passport is issued.
Students must follow the latest FRRO/immigration rules as directed by the authorities.
Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action by the university.
