Green Campus

A Green Campus is a place that incorporates eco-friendly ways of producing and consuming as well as efficient use of energy, water, and natural resources for survival and future well-being.

 

Sweeping away wasteful inefficiencies and using conventional sources of energy for its daily power needs, correct disposal handling, purchase of environment-friendly supplies, and an effective recycling program.

Goals 

  • Developing an environmentally sustainable campus culture where responsibility is assigned and understood

  • Conserving natural resources by reusing and recycling

  • Participating in efforts to improve environmental protection and understanding

  •  Enhancing awareness among our employees, volunteers, and users - educating and motivating them to act in an environmentally responsible manner

  • Supporting and implementing “Swatch Bharath Abhiyan” for a healthy India

Action Plan

  •  Ban on Plastics – Plastic-free campus

  •  Disposal of Biowaste as per regulations

  •  Disposal of E-waste as per advertisements & guidelines

  •  Notices and signboards to educate and remind users to conserve water and electricity

  • Green Audit, Energy Audit & Environment Audit Periodically conducted

  • Outreach program (green & environment) to the nearby community to create awareness of environmental conservation

  • Encouraging students to use public transport

  • Digitization and Automation of Academic and Administrative Activities

  • Restricted entry of Automobiles

  • Saving energy will be the motto to bring the eco-friendly campus

  • The organic and inorganic solid waste on the campus shall be collected separately for disposal as per established norms

  • Digital Library - e-learning center

  • Pedestrian-friendly pathways

  • Landscaping with trees and plants

  • Library and classrooms are declared as silent zone

  • No vehicle day to keep the campus vehicle-free, thereby saving on fuel and reducing environmental pollution

  • Maximize the use of ICT and minimize the use of paper – Paperless office

  • Protecting and nurturing the flora and fauna within the campus is given considerable priority

  • Minimize the carbon footprint through energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainable practices

  • Facilitate carpooling and ride-sharing programs to reduce the number of single-occupancy vehicles on campus
